Wouldn't even be illegal in most of Europe, Latin America, China, etc.

It's a scandal here because America has a higher minimum accepted age.

Prostitution is illegal in most countries regardless of age. That’s a dumb excuse.

It’s also interesting you say China and Latin America since those two places both have unusually low ages of consent. Most African countries have the age of consent set at 18. It’s not just a "first world people are sensitive" problem.

Germany and China are not 3rd world.

China isn’t first world though, East Germany wasn’t considered first world either.

If you think about this: why is one called first world and the other is called third world? There’s another one in the middle.

Really, the way in which people use the terms first and third world changed over time. Originally the first world was the United States and our allies during the Cold War, the second world was the Soviet Union and their communist allies, and the third world was just all the African countries that didn’t care. But then it eventually became a judgement about wealth that doesn’t really have any official meaning.

Little known fact: Ireland is technically a third world country under the original definition since they weren’t aligned with the United States or the Soviet Union during the Cold War. But they have a higher GDP per capita than the United States.

Ireland is awesome. And why are so many Celtic women so fucking hot?

Most of Germany was considered part of the 1st world, and ¼ was considered 2nd world.

China has world class cities, bullet trains across the country, and is on the leading edge of AI and robotics.

Only under a technical, meaningless definition.

Ireland is unique because it's a tax haven, take out the few companies nominally HQ'd there and it's GDP per capita is fine but not at the US level.
