Topic: I used Grok, Anthropic, and others for a research question on demographics (crime, infanticide, STI)

Anonymous A started this discussion 1 month ago #131,640

All of them neatly correlated data into a table. I asked for a breakdown by racial demographics. Can you guess the results?

So are we supposed to guess what question or the answer to the question?

Either way, if I had to guess, I’d guess it said most crime is black on black, white on white, Hispanic on Hispanic, and Asian on Asian.

I’d imagine it would say either blacks and whites commit crime at similar rates or blacks commit crime at slightly higher rates due to specific circumstances but most crime is committed by white men in particular due to them being the majority, and due to women committing less crime for various social and biological reasons.

For STI, I’d imagine something about gay people came up, either saying gay people are victimized or saying it’s a harmful stereotype, probably depends on if a left leaning or a right leaning guy owns whatever company made the chatbot. I’d guess Grok would say all gays have aids if I had to guess.

Unless you ask Grok too directly then it will accuse you of being homophonic.

Trans came in at the top for HIV. If you’re black and trans you’re at +60% for HIV infection. Even Grok has the usual “societal inequalities” and “unequal access to resources” boilerplate.

@previous (C)
Well, obviously Elon Musk doesn’t know how to make a chatbot, he had to hire other people to do it for him. He doesn’t tend to have "smart people" opinions on a lot of things. I sometimes wonder if that’s what the Grok Nazi thing was about. When you tell someone to do something they don’t want to do (make Grok right wing) and they intentionally do what you said but with the intention of causing failure (making a literal Nazi robot).

That’s one explanation, the other is they could have trained Grok on the output of another LLM to save resources. That’s also possible.

I mean it makes sense if you think about it. The Falcon 9 works every time. Starship doesn’t. What’s the difference? His employees got dumber? Or is it just that they like him less after bragging about firing his employees because he didn’t like their politics? We’ll never know…

It’s probably both actually.

That isn't a good start.
