This isn’t Americas problem. This is an intra-Slavic squabble that has been going on for centuries. The best Trump or any other American can do is let the Slavs settle things amongst themselves.
There is nothing wrong with Trump walking away from Ukraine.
Yeah let Europe solve war on it's own, never goes wrong. The US has already helped Ukraine in numerous ways, seems like a waste to not keep helping because they suddenly don't care about dictatorships threatening their allies

Why is it you conservative sorts seem to think everything happened "centuries" ago? You do know a century is a unit of time not just a word that vaguely means 2014 was a long time ago.

Honestly, considering the history of Europe, thinking that after the Soviet Union fell all that history of constant war was just going to end was kind of dumb. It is a cultural thing with that continent. Before Hitler came to power, Germany was a democracy. It’s not even about democracy vs autocracy, Europeans will vote for autocracy whenever the economy is bad. Americans? I won’t comment on that.
Well there still was this problem of the Soviet union, after the second world war. That was the whole point of NATO, wasn't it? Putin isn't much of a friendly neighbor. If the US for some reason can't or won't be doing the military heavy lifting, then it seems like Europe will have to become more 'federal' with the whole Europen union, or in worst case scenario, be more closer to Moscow rather than the US. That's heavy Russian control on a huge market.
But at least the US saves some money I suppose, maybe China will invite Trump to a military parade? Sounds like a terrible deal.

Look it's not even about Trump with this. If Kamala Harris had won instead and said "Yeah this isn't our fight, we're done with Ukraine" I would support that every bit as much - perhaps even more so - as if Trump said it.
America First and avoiding foreign wars and entanglements is my priority. If that comes from a Republican, great. If that comes from a Democrat, fantastic. I just want an America First foreign policy. I don't care if its implemented by Trump or Kamala or Biden or whatever. I will cheer anyone of any party who moves in that direction.
But they didn't did they? They are just helping Ukraine because they know it doesn't stop with Ukraine. But if after the long history of supporting Europe, the US wants to throw in the towel? Well that's up to them but politically it serves nothing

Well, if you look a little bit deeper into history, you’ll find that we actually support Europe when we’ve eliminated all other options first.

What happened is Japan attacked us, then we declared war on Japan, then Hitler declared war on us, then we declared war on the Nazis. And that’s how that happened.

Your innocence is a profoundly precious and beautiful thing and I pray you can hold onto it for as long as possible. To help with this: never, ever stop getting your understanding of world events from CNN.

Hey Anon C, did you see today's CNN report on how America wants to remove Maduro so they can help the Venezuelan people use the planet's largest oil reserves to bring freedom and democracy to Latin America? It was beautiful.
There's veterans from those wars here too, Roosevelt wanted to help Britain a lot sooner as I recall, foretelling conflict from certain warmongers. Japan then finally gave Roosevelt the perfect excuse.
But hey maybe Trump will be liked by Putin more, that's like a three year benefit... Somehow I'm sure.
Well it was some guy I recall. Not some internet guy, but like literally some guy. It wasn't surprising to a lot of people though, it was the people who know Putin doesn't care about lives.

Yeah, the old "Russians don't care about lives", a quasi-racist propaganda trope begun by Nazi Germany and promulgated to this day by CNN.

Speaking of CNN, their beloved Institute For The Study of War (run by architect of the Ukraine war Victoria Nuland's husband), whom they exclusively quote for their hilarious battlefield assessments, has been caught gaming betting odds on Ukrainian death:
Oh of course, only you can truly claim sufficient knowledge right? All the news Europe gets from the war in Ukraine is just fake news right? Russians are having a blast despite actually being in a war and suffering because of it.

That was that idiot Francis Fukuyama and his End of History nonsense. The correct political scientist was Samuel Huntington.

The Soviets starved and killed millions in the revolution, then in Ukraine. They neglected safety on military equipment and especially submarines. Their folly gave us Chernobyl and drained the Aral Sea. The Soviets promoted revolutions that killed additional millions in China and elsewhere.
Even before the Communists the tsars were reckless with their armies and with the people in territories they conquered. A lighter gulag was a facet of rule.
Now Putin kills his opponents and his feckless war has cost hundreds of thousands of Russian lives and limbs.
There’s enough in the historical record to prove this out. It’s all tsars and boyars bullying the serfs. The names change.

I just looked him up. Identity politics is insufferable enough, identity wars sounds exhausting, although unfortunately, I can see what he was talking about.

If we we're being honest here. A nazi victory in WW2 or a prussian victory in WW1 wouldnt have been too terribly bad, compared with the current outcum of Europe.
