It's blasphemy against civilization itself. The whole point is food, that's it, that's all. Before safety and shelter, food is #1 priority, it's the ancient primal point of civilization.

You need to pay for what you use, that isn't blasphemy.
Road maintenance laborers, the FDA, health inspectors, food stamps, police and military to protect it every step of the way, air traffic controllers, beaurocrats for trade deals, weights and measures, all costs money.
Those are handled by the government, and paying for your food means paying the taxes necessary for all of that.

I'd love it if there was some fiscal responsibility, but (at least in the US) all parties just keep printing dollars and funding their own pet projects instead. Getting captain chainsaw on stage was just a ruse.

Nobody gives a fuck because so many geriatrics in power won’t have to live with the consequences of what they do. Plus, there is no grand or long-term strategy executed to any kind of national betterment or consensus.
The chaos of federalism is apparent in disasters and emergencies. But I don’t see efficiency in any autocratic alternative like the monarchist fantasists propose.
I look back and America built the Panama Canal in less than a decade, Hoover Dam in five years, Tennessee Valley Authority in three. Now, it’s 10 years and $10 billion in site surveys and environmental bullshit and there’s no light rail or bridge built at the end. Interlocking bureaucracies are trapped in cults of process and procedure.
Look at the space program. A decade to the moon with less computing power than in a modern calculator. Now it’s many billions and NASA barely sends up probes after blowing three decades of its existence on the failed space shuttle.

Part of the reason we could do stuff in the past was because safety wasn’t invented yet. The first three astronauts chosen for Apollo 1 died in a fire because the geniuses at NASA didn’t foresee that a pure oxygen environment might be a fire hazard.

I’ve heard that before. I mean, on some level it’s true, I think Xi Jinping has a degree in chemical engineering from Tsinghua. On the other hand, Trump went to UPenn and RFK Jr. went to Harvard even though he has a dead worm in his brain. Have you ever read JFK’s Harvard essay by the way? It’s easy to find if you google it. I think more so than education or what people studied, it might have more to do with rich people getting into top universities because they’re rich even if they have mediocre levels of intelligence, but that’s just me. Maybe Xi Jinping’s chemical engineering degree is super useful and comes up often in his political career, what do I know?

You know, the guys who can’t shut up about how we need to bring "meritocracy" back. You know a lot of top universities including Ivy League universities have policies where either you can’t send them your SAT score or if you do send them your SAT score they ignore it? There’s this whole political thing about race and is it unfair to one race if another race gets in at a higher rate. Have you ever looked at what percentage of the students at Princeton or Harvard are from the top 1%? Because it’s a lot more than 1% of the students.

Like I don’t know, maybe black people are 13% of the population and 15% of Harvard’s student body or whatever, and white people get upset about that because they think that extra 2% advantage black people get is just the end of the world and so unfair. They assume all black people are stupid and get bad grades because they’re biologically inferior or whatever even if they don’t say it out loud. Oh but 15% of Harvard students come from the top 1% income households and 90% are from the top 10% households? Total radio silence, not a peep about that. That’s what’s actually running our country not black people with college degrees. Should Trump have been accepted to UPenn? Probably not.

Now of course, some conservatives who like biological determinism will argue, IQ correlates with income and IQ correlates with SAT scores so maybe rich people are just smarter and score higher on the SAT, but did the even colleges look at the SAT scores in the first place? These are questions. How come legacy students are so much more likely to get accepted. Sure maybe it would be nice if they studied engineering, but there might be a bigger problem. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but America is a nation ruled by idiots.

At least the idea some people (pretty much exclusively morons if I’m being honest) have that you can use how well a racial group on average does economically as a proxy for how intelligent or qualified an individual is is going to destroy this country. Just because somebody’s white, that doesn’t mean they’re smart. Look in government, there are white men everywhere, if they’re what truly represents the best of the white race, that’s super unimpressive. And I’m not racist against white people, there are plenty of smart and brilliant white people, they’re just not running the country.

And no insult to coal miners from West Virginia, but if you start telling coal miners from West Virginia they’re more qualified to fly a plane than a black pilot because they’re white, and you really make them believe that, we’re going to end up having a lot of kamikaze pilots. That’s all I’m saying.

Or even guys like Elon Musk, he went to Stanford, and he tells people that he "doesn’t give a damn about your degree" as like a populist thing to appeal to uneducated Trump voters.
Have you ever looked at job openings at SpaceX?
Minimum qualification: Bachelors degree for every single position

Then the whole biological determinist "white people are smarter than brown people" is also bullshit. When Trump supporters got mad at Elon Musk for saying he wanted H1B visas from India because Americans are unqualified, he genuinely has a point. I’m a studying computer science, my professor is Indian, half the class is Indian. The other half is Chinese.
Anonymous L triple-posted this 1 month ago, 1 minute later, 1 day after the original post[^][v]#1,406,085
But then these Trump people who didn’t go to college will be like "oh college is just a place to get indoctrinated into woke Marxism, India is poor because Indians are low IQ and they have an inferior culture but this is forbidden knowledge."

Except they have this weird definition of "Marxism" most smart people think "Marxism" is an economic ideology, but these people for some reason have the idea that Marxism is when people think that black people are human beings, and that if you teach people that it’s going to destroy western civilization, because they’re dumb.

…which is also what Apartheid South Africa taught the white people, they taught them that the black Africans were all communist (completely not true), and that the black Africans who just wanted the right to vote in their own native country were actually a bunch of Marxists who were going to destroy Christianity, (never mind the fact that hundreds of millions of them are Christian).
