Topic: 10 Most Controversial Biblical Stories — Nobody Wants to Talk About

Abraham Almost Sacrifices His Own Son
Let’s start with one of the Bible’s most famous and disturbing stories. While it may come up in Sunday school, the discussion is often surface-level, glossing over its emotional weight. In this story, God commands Abraham to take his beloved son, Isaac, up a mountain and offer him as a sacrifice — a test of Abraham’s loyalty. Abraham actually goes through with it, binding his son and getting ready to kill him, until God stops him at the last second. Imagine the trauma for poor Isaac, who didn’t know he was about to be a sacrifice. People still argue about why God would even ask such a thing and why Abraham would blindly agree. Some say it’s a story about faith, but…

2. Lot and His Daughters — A Disturbing Family Story
This one is definitely not for the faint-hearted. After fleeing the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his daughters hide out in a cave.

Fearing they’d never find husbands, the daughters decide to get their father drunk and sleep with him to preserve their family line.

Yep, that’s in the Bible. It’s one of the most uncomfortable stories, and it raises a lot of questions about morality and the extreme lengths people are willing to go in desperate situations. The Bible doesn’t explicitly condemn or praise them here, but it leaves readers wondering, what on Earth was going on?

Will ADD to these over a period of time - Hats off to the resident Catholic Priest who is paid to dispense Garbage to the Masses and Lies to users of mc and formerly tc.

Are they really controversial? Fictional storybook written 1500 years ago and describing a period 500 years earlier. To spice it up, they added some naughty bits. The authors were surprised at the popularity of the book.

@previous (B)
I chose a site for a list and it demands sign up and I am NOT about to do that so with so many other choices I add this FAMOUS ONE.

2. Onan’s Pull-Out Problem
Genesis 38:8–10

Onan’s brother dies, and he’s told to marry his brother’s widow to give her a child in the family’s name. But Onan isn’t thrilled about raising someone else’s kid. So when it’s time to do the deed, he “spills his seed on the ground.” God sees this and kills him instantly. Yes, death by bad timing. This single story is why, for centuries, religious leaders freaked out about masturbation.

Why the assumption that Isaac would not want to be a sacrifice for the LORD?

Book of Job is a banger: test the poor guy by wiping out his entire family. Moral of the story is God gives you new kids/family to make up for the ones he whacked (to prove the devil wrong).
