If anyone has had addicts in the family, it’s pretty easy to give up on the ones who manipulate you, steal your shit, or even menace you.

The thing about the deaths of Eco and Bert, Eco had people to fall back on, Bert had nobody but himself. Eco always had a couch to crash on, while Bert ended up in the cold somewhere.
That's why I felt more sorry for Bert than Eco. Even though Bert was a pain in the ass, he was our pain in the ass. We were pretty much the only community he had.
