Most people think serial killers live in messy homes, but they live in sterile homes most of the time. Their inner world is a mess, so they compensate with overly tidy homes. Hitler was a very tidy person and nazi Germany tried to manifest a overly clean society. The worst serial killers are politicians, that's what I'm trying to say.
When the state has moral authority, unconditional support, the mental image of "the proper authority" that's when you get governments that are dehumanizing, such as ISIS or nazi Germany. The best mix is when this ultimate authority is placed outside of the state, a secular government but a religious government.
This way, your worth as a human being will never be tampered with by the state, such as how productive you are, how rich you are, what religion you believe in, or what race you are.

A variation on that is 'find your people.' We are stronger in groups; works well in the animal kingdom too. I argue it doean't have to be religion, it could be a fierce knitting club that looks out for their own.

No immigrants, they don’t trade with anybody, all their manufacturing is done in house, they have one leader everybody loves, perfectly ethnically homogenous society. Most be paradise. You know, apart from the multi generational prison camps and starvation.
