It’s crazy how white dudes are so racist that they don’t realize the reason why they can’t get into college is because of Chinese international students, so they blame the black students that aren’t even there in the first place. Then they’re like "why does China steal our technology." I don’t know, maybe because you taught thousands of Chinese students engineering.

The whole justification is stupid.
"Black people aren’t oppressed, fewer black people go to college because they’re just biologically less intelligent."
Oh so, then you don’t have to compete for college acceptances then because black people are just dumb right?
"No, I didn’t get into Harvard because of affirmative action! Black people have an unfair advantage."
Oh well there must be a lot of black people in American universities then if they’re the reason why you can’t get it.
"No, there are almost no blacks in American universities, American universities are filled with Chinese international students because they’re Chinese have a culture that actually values studying!"
Well, then if they’re filled with Chinese international students, maybe they’re the real reason why you didn’t get in.
"No! Asians have higher IQs than white people. They deserve to be in university."
You must really like the Chinese then!
"No, China is a threat to America and all they do is steal our technology."
Are they really stealing your technology if you would rather teach Chinese students engineering than teach it to black or white American citizens?
"No China is stealing our technology!"
But you think the Chinese have higher IQs than white people and blacks are inferior to white people because they’re have low IQs.

Studies on intelligence have consistently found that
people of East Asian descent, on average, obtain the highest scores on standardized intelligence tests compared to other racial and ethnic groups, including white people. The difference in average scores is typically a few to several points

None of those studies are real though. The reason why white supremacists say Asians are the most intelligent race is because Asians are seen as foreigners in the United States so it’s a gotcha they can use to deny being white supremacists. They did it so they can be like, "See, I’m not a racist, I said Asians and Jews have the highest IQs, if I’m a racist why would I say Jews have high IQs?"

The thing that’s crazy, is Chinese people, they don’t usually say it, but they actually know that it’s not true. The Chinese government knows that Europe and Asia have declining birth rates and that Africa is going to have a massive young workforce in the future. There’s a reason why the Russians and the Chinese want to keep the Europeans and the Americans out of Africa.

I mean, the Chinese do copy technology, I’m not denying that. I’m just saying, if white Americans see China as an American adversary, saying that Chinese people deserve to get an education in the United States more than American citizens because of some fringe Neo Nazi theory that East Asians are more intelligent than whites, that’s basically the most stupid strategy possible.

It’s especially ironic if you consider the fact that these white people think that black people are stupid. But there is no black country in Africa that’s so stupid that black Africans are arguing that white people in Europe deserve to go to African universities more than Africans from Africa because they think Europeans are smarter. Nobody in Africa is stupid enough to say that, so if no black people are that stupid enough to do that, then why are Americans that stupid when it comes to China? The fact they have the opinion is evidence the opinion is bullshit.
These institutions charge 6 figures to tell their customers to read and write, if the Chinese want to send their hard earned money to America instead of just picking up a text under their own volition, that's good for America.

People who buy luxury cars have an even higher premium over regular people, but that doesn't mean spending the money is going to make you rich. Rich people buy luxury products. They had money before they went to college.
Anyone with some time can study, the expense those institutions charge is to provide the resort for students. It doesn't have occult knowledge, you can watch entire classes for free from elite universities.

Yeah, and I don’t go to class everyday, because I can watch the lectures too. Obviously it is possible to educate everyone for free, Germany does it. The point isn’t that it’s necessary, a lot of what society is, is basically elitism for the sake of elitism. The whole debate about affirmative action isn’t really about fairness or whether some races are really smarter than other races, nobody really cares about that except for fools. It’s about who has what status in society. And on average, if you go to college, there are edge cases, but on average you will earn more than if you don’t.
Anonymous A (OP) double-posted this 2 months ago, 2 minutes later, 41 minutes after the original post[^][v]#1,402,418
I’m not saying your point is invalid, but I’d imagine the number of people who actually watch every 1 1/2 hour long lecture 3 days a week for all 15 weeks of a semester on YouTube is probably pretty small.

There's no study that shows that college increases your earnings by a million dollars if you control for economic background. Any study just shows a correlation, which isn't meaningful because obviously the wealthy spend more on luxuries.
Who cares about the status? The service industry is full of college grads complaining about being disrespected by customers.
If you are a regular person, spend that money on a business. That will provide a return. Keeping up with the Joneses is how you get in debt. The student loan balances are over 1 trillion in the US. It's just the same as buying a brand name product to show off the logo, you're trading money for fleeting respect.
Anyone who can show up to scheduled classes on a campus can find the time to watch finish a course on edX. It takes the same amount of time, minus the physical commute.

You can read a textbook on technology, buy components to practice with, and anything else a university offers without going into lifelong debt.
edX does too, that's not unique to physical colleges. Those exams are designed by Harvard and MIT just the same for edX as in the classroom. They aren't forced to make it easier because it's in a web format.

Of course, Google isn’t the only company in the world, and they have this populist thing of "oh you don’t need college to get a job" but if you actually think of a tech company like Oracle, Amazon, Netflix, etc. and you go to their careers page and you actually search for jobs, they usually say they want you to have a degree, but they also sometimes mention particular courses than only certain universities offer.

I’m not saying that you’re wrong, I’m just saying that’s a riskier route. My whole thing is mostly I’m irritated at the idea of white people saying that blacks shouldn’t work in technology or that blacks shouldn’t go to university as if that’s a ridiculous idea.
Google is one of the "schools" on the site, and tailors the programs to match the skills they think are important. Many CS programs have not changed much in decades, because they teach theory and aren't as concerned about whether Google has the human capital it needs.

There's a lot of risk in taking out a big loan if no one can say exactly what college offers outside a vague sense of status.
Many tech companies have endorsed MOOCs as an alternative to traditional college. For non-tech degrees, it's less clear why you'd put yourself in indentured servitude to read important authors, write about them, and talk to others. There are coffee shops and bars that offer that at a much better price.

I mean, if you think about a smartphone for example, and how much research was required to invent that, computer scientists, electrical and computer engineers, physicists, chemists, etc. I do think that there is value in that.

I don’t have a problem with saying that everyone doesn’t need to go to college, but I do have a problem with some people saying that some people shouldn’t go to college or contribute to the development of technology because of what race they are.
The difference in how each party treats this is that the democrats want special quotas to gurantee certain races spots (DEI/Affirmative Action) and Republicans want to ban using race as a factor in admissions.
No one is saying black people can't go, the actual position is that they shouldn't get a leg up because of their race. Get admitted on merit.
Anonymous A (OP) double-posted this 2 months ago, 2 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[^][v]#1,402,449
I can tell you why I don’t believe in merit. Rich kids don’t go to the same schools as poor kids, they take different classes, they’re involved in different extracurriculars, and rich kids get accepted to top universities at a much higher rate than middle class kids do.
> They were smart, and that's why they became rich and involved in activities.
That’s what the rich want you to believe. The rich are rich because their parents were rich. That’s the best predictor for whether or not you’re going to be rich.
> Meritocracy doesn't mean everyone can win limited spots.
Okay, I want you to imagine a scenario:
Imagine two people, Jack and Dylan. Imagine Dylan is a black guy who lives on the south side of Chicago, he gets perfect grades, he’s a successful student athlete, he has a 4.0 GPA. His school doesn’t have AP or IB credits and he didn’t do any dual enrollment. Now imagine Jack is a white guy from NYC who has millionaire parents who sent him to private school, where he received AP or IB credits, and took computer science classes and college level math courses while he was a high school student, but he got a 3.9 GPA. Which one do you think is probably going to be admitted to Harvard?
Anonymous A (OP) triple-posted this 2 months ago, 3 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[^][v]#1,402,455
All high schools aren’t equal, there are a lot of high schools in poor neighborhoods where literally nobody is going to be admitted into an ivy regardless of how good their grades are, because the school doesn’t offer the right courses, the school isn’t ranked well, and the universities know people from that area on average have less money so they’ll only admit a few token students, but won’t admit a majority of their class of x year from there because they still need to actually collect tuition from someone.

White people are really stupid due to their allowing black scum to live in their country. Smart White people would do whatever is needed to get rid of those filthy things.

No matter how much land white people have ever conquered or how many ways of killing people whites have ever invented, whites have never figured out how to get rid of black people. It’s almost like they’re not superior or something.

In fact, ironically, capitalism incentivizes people to have fewer children, so the fact that Europeans exploited Africa for so long and made Africa so poor is actually probably the reason why Africa’s population has exploded and went from half the size of Europe in the 1940s to equal to the size of Europe in the 1990s and twice the size of Europe today, projected at 40% of the population of the world by the end of the century, by which Africa in 2100 will still have a younger population than Europe does today. For some "high IQ" people, that’s one hell of a backfire. Africa has only been larger than Europe for about 30 years, but they’re probably going to stay larger than Europe for hundreds of years.
DEI guy quadruple-posted this 2 months ago, 21 minutes later, 1 day after the original post[^][v]#1,402,663
…and the average age of an African is 19, so that means within a single human lifetime, we’re going to see the African workforce double in size since half of Africans are children right now.
