Elon Musk is the same idiot who was crying that it was racist that South Africa didn’t give him a license to sell Starlink in South Africa because South Africa requires minority ownership in order for foreign firms to operate inside South Africa before the South African government reveled that Elon Musk never applied for the license in the first place.

White people can own businesses in South Africa, it’s a rule that only applies to foreigners. If Elon Musk just decided to stay in South Africa and found SpaceX in South Africa, he wouldn’t have this problem in the first place. It’s not racist to say foreigners can’t just buy up South Africa without giving compensation to South Africans. Foreigners colonized Africa once, they’re not going to let it happen twice, they’re not stupid. The Chinese do the same thing.

It is ridiculous to expect that you’re entitled to do business in another country and not benefit the people in that country and only benefit yourself. There’s no incentive for any country to ever agree to that.

I don't know. I guess it makes sense if you think he's this visionary who's going to put a human colony on Mars or whatever, but I just found it depressing.

At some point everyone needs to own their share of the blame, it's not enough to be mad at the guy if everyone's still buying his internet, rockets, blue check marks, and cars he's still getting paid. Or I guess he's pivoting to robots and AI now so at least don't buy into that.
