Topic: There's no such thing as dogs or dog breeds.

All "dogs" originated from the grey wolf, so there's no difference at all between them

While all domesticated dogs are the same species (Canis familiaris), a wide variety of dog breeds exist because of human-driven selective breeding over the past few hundred years. These breeds are distinct groups created by humans for specific tasks and appearances, not natural evolutionary processes

Tigers and Lions share a common ancestor, and evolved naturally.

Does that mean they are the same species?

Wolves have larger brains than dogs because animals with smaller brains tend to be more docile than animals with larger brains. Human brain size has actually decreased over time since humans domesticated ourselves.

Which is ironic considering that racists would say that black people are less civilized and more violent therefore they must be biologically less intelligent when uncivilized humans had larger brains than civilized humans and violence is actually a sign of higher intelligence.

The species of humans who had the largest brains are actually extinct.

…nobody ever brings that one up.

If brain size mattered for intelligence then crows would not be equivalent to a 7 year old human

Birds have a higher density of neurons than primates do, and their neurons are also more neatly organized.

Comparing bird brains to human brains as evidence for why an extinct subspecies of the genus Homo would have been less intelligent than sapiens isn’t a good comparison because birds and mammals are very distantly related. Neanderthals were the same genus as Homo sapiens, but were considered to be a different subspecies. So modern humans could breed with Neanderthals and produce viable offspring and actually did. However, birds are archosaurs which makes them more closely related to crocodiles and alligators which are also archosaurs. All reptiles are diapsids but humans are synapsids since we lack an antorbital fenestra. Since birds are diapsids and humans are synapsids, that means the most recent common ancestor between humans and birds must have been at least (probably longer than) 300 million years ago. But humans diverged from chimpanzees 7 million years ago. So those are two very different time scales.

At least from the fact that Homo sapiens were mating with Neanderthals, Neanderthals were probably pretty similar to Homo sapiens in terms of language and intelligence.

Or I guess Neanderthals are technically categorized as different species, but the same genus. Species vs subspecies is a little bit vague if different species are the same genus.

I am quite happy to state that im dumber than the average bird.

Everybody outside of sub Saharan Africa pretty much has some level of Neanderthal DNA since Neanderthals lived in Europe and humans bred with Neanderthals. Neanderthals had slightly larger brains than modern humans, which was mostly due to the fact that the were larger than modern humans in general. I feel a bit uncomfortable with saying that Neanderthals were definitively inferior in intelligence to modern humans, because that would sort of be like saying everyone in the world who’s not African is slightly inferior in intelligence to Africans. I don’t really think that’s true.

Or actually, considering that you exist, maybe Neanderthals are less intelligent.
