It will cover 2,500 miles.

Nigeria isn’t even 2,500 miles wide.

Also why would it cost $60 billion to build a railway? Isn’t it just iron rails? Why does iron cost $60 billion?

…I’m highly suspicious of this.

How much do railways cost, I’ve never built a railway before?

…actually I googled it and it said it costs between 2 to 300 million per mile so maybe 60 billion for 2,500 miles is actually completely normal. Then there’s also jungle in Africa so that factors in… I’d imagine building a railroad through a jungle is going to be more challenging. But $60 billion that’s like 30% of their GDP.

If it was 300 million per mile that would make it as expensive as the US military budget, so they’re doing 10x better per mile than the worst cost per mile google AI said, so it’s probably like $30 million per mile, which is like, not ideal, but also, there’s a building my university just finished that cost $300 million, so maybe it’s not that crazy.

I’m on the fence, either this is totally reasonable or completely unreasonable.

But then 30% of your GDP could also be 3% of your GDP over 10 years so that factors in…

…either this is completely reasonable or completely unreasonable.

…then on one hand, you have China, but on the other hand you’ve got Nigeria, so it’s not clear who’s scamming who they’re both good at that.

Then I guess if you wanna develop you need infrastructure but how can you afford money to spend on infrastructure if you’re not developed, that seems like a catch 22:

On the other hand they could just kidnap, Elon Musk and afford this very easily.
