oh that's an easy one, they continue to be hipsters, but stop wearing the clothing that has become mainstream and start wearing different hipster clothes which then goes mainstream and the cycle repeats.

This is actually a true statement. These days if you want to be a "classic hipster" your only real option is truly embrace the hippie of yesteryear. Stop grooming yourself completely, have a wardrobe of old tattered clothes and wear them because you spend all your money on drugs and alcohol and don't have the ability/ambition to buy new gear. Hate things that cost a lot of money because paying for them requires that you get a fucking job, and that shit is lame anyway. "Vinyl just sounds more authentic."
Drive a van because it's the only thing you can afford and paint it with giant flowers to cover up the rust damage because a solid coat of spray-paint Royal Blue would look fucking worse, and you're only driving out to Berkley for the protests anyways. Plus chicks dig flowers.
