I exercise while I play video games or use the computer so I don't feel that time is wasted. There are a few devices you can purchase or construct which make this possible.

It's pretty surprising, actually. I play Black Ops on my treadmill and have about a 1:1 ratio. Sometimes I'll walk with as high as 2:1. I'm sure it doesn't help, but the other leg is that I play games more with this setup.
Generally programming and writing beyond gruntwork require an elliptical for the fluid, predictable motion with little noise. However, this causes your level with the keyboard, mouse, and monitor to change slightly and hence is worse for gaming.

i would rather have an incomplete 1.9 with many updates and bugfixes than have 50 different pre-releases.

they think they are appeasing us by doing these pre-releases, so they just spend more time doing the feature creep dance, while server owners are left with either running 1.8 or dealing with having no plugins. We have to wait until mid November for this madness to stop!

fragmenting your players is bad. notch needs to stop with this shit.

are you actually trying to make a point here? i don't see one... so your're just spewing the 'lolol its a beta' line that anyone who criticizes Notch gets to hear.

part of the fun of minecraft, is being there when the new stuff is added... if you want to experience that, you are forced to use the pres, but that is fragmenting the community between people who will wait for the update and people who want to be on the bleeding edge of minecraft development.

this was fine when the pre-release was only for a short time, but now they are making this their policy, to release pres instead of actually updating the game on a regular basis.
i don't like it.

I was reminding you as you seemed annoyed that features were missing in a beta. I thought pre-releases were just small parts of updates. I see your point if it breaks something, but if people have the option of an older version, it seems like it's a personal choice issue. I stopped playing Minecraft, so it's entirely possible I'm missing something.

It's the nature of beta for things to be broked. I don't really like beta testing games. I used to like getting an early shot at games, but i find beta periods can turn me off.

basically, everyone was mad that 1.8 was taking so long, so they did a pre-release, then released 1.8 shortly thereafter.

now, 1.9 is taking a long time, so they started doing pre-releases one after another, we're up to number 4 now. this is going to continue until mid-november, apparently.
the problems are that you have to download the pre and manually update your client (and server) each time, they sometimes break the previous map on servers, the community is fragmented between versions, no plugins because they release the pres so fast that it's not worth updating them, and you have to constantly follow every employee of Mojang on twitter or else you might miss the download link.
i wasn't even aware of this latest pre until i read this topic.

it's kind of a mess... i would prefer if they just put stuff in as it was done, and added a revsion that is automatically pushed to all players.
