Random fact: the world’s first private space launch company OTRAG launched their first rocket from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1977.

It actually makes sense since Africa is technically moving faster than Europe because it takes any point on Earth 24 hours to do a full rotation, but the circumference is greatest at the equator, so it’s more fuel efficient to reach orbital velocity from Africa.
