Ancient coin from Athens. It has the goddess and owl, it's going to be different from anything else I've bought because the coin will bring me protection

Those specific ones, Athenian Tetradrachms, are usually fairly expensive, especially if you want one in good condition. What sort of budget do you have?

If you just want to dip your toes into ancient coins, and you just want a coin with Athena on it, there are much more affordable options!

Oh, also, if you're new to numismatics, I'd recommend sticking to Vcoins or MA Shops, first off. The sellers there are usually trustworthy and established, so less chance of you buying a fake.

Wow wow I don't even know what numismatics is. It's a long term goal. Should probably get a job first before I buy some heavy protection but ty.

It's just crazy, I saw that coin and instinctively saw it the same way as some people did see it in the old days, that is, not just a coin but a talisman that you should have close to you as you sleep

I'd like merchandise that actually is what it says it is instead of a simulacrum that offers nothing more than verisimilitude. For example, your typical retail belt does not function as a belt. It is not made of belt parts, but instead shit that upon wearing, immediately turns back into what it was before simulating a belt, like Cinderella's midnight pumpkin coach.

Haha, it's just a fancy term for being interested in coins.

But yeah, cool, good you're not gonna immediately drop a massive amount of cash on this. Give a while, work towards it, and see if you feel the same. From briefly looking around, I estimate you'd want maybe $650 to $900 to get one of these in decent shape (I could be wrong about that though).

But in the meantime, if you just want an ancient coin with Athena on it, there's some very affordable stuff out there. For example, here's a list of ancient coins with Athena on, sorted by the cheapest up.

I agree, the more than 1500 years of existence is part of the magic, having something in your hands that probably survived plagues and wars is crazy, that's not even considering all the hands it went through

Oh yeah, I didn't want to get into that to avoid overloading you with information, but yes, there are more affordable ancient imitations, where other states or individuals outside of Athens made their own versions of those coins. They're usually more affordable and some even look nearly as good as the original ones. If you don't mind that, they're excellent options.

Oh wow I didn't even see the part about it being imitation. I guess that's why I like to make things linger in my mind for a while before I make decisions
