Born into an unstable family in an impoverished region. Not a lot of opportunities out.

Are you talking about Iraq or West Virginia?

@previous (A)
None of both but close to.

Fascinating.

But seriously though, are you an immigrant and you had to come here or were you born here and you can’t leave?

For me it’s low IQ and freedom. I’m too stupid to become a dictator, so freedom is the next best thing.

Double taxation

The countries I would actually want to live in are very difficult to immigrate to. You have to be incredibly wealthy, be sponsored by an employer, or marry into citizenship, none of which are realistic for the majority of people.

I wonder how Africans afford it. I’ve heard the GDP per capita statistics are wrong because more transactions aren’t digitally recorded.

It is weird if you think about it, supposedly everybody in Africa is living on a dollar a day or something and yet they all want apartments in London of all places… and can afford to have 4 or 5 kids… even in terms of GDP per capita PPP that makes no sense. But somehow it appears to work that way.

Then there’s the argument about farm work, but if you zoom into Africa on google maps, there’s surprisingly little farmland and if you look into it, cities in Africa are surprisingly big, and it really doesn’t make sense.

It's almost like white Westerners assume things about Africa that are not true because they've never been there.

Anonymous F replied with this 4 months ago, 15 minutes later, 4 hours after the original post[^] [v] #1,387,774

@previous (E)
Yeah, that’s definitely true. I also just don’t get how it’s possible for Africa to sustain its population when I zoom in almost anywhere in Africa and don’t see farmland and I zoom in almost anywhere in Europe and find farmland, but Africa has twice as many people as Europe. I just googled it, apparently Africa has like 65% of the world’s uncultivated arable land, but people say Africans will starve if they don’t stop having children. But then why does the west use up so much land for farmland if we could all survive with that little farmland? I literally wasn’t interested in this until I went on that tangent replying to you. lol

Like how do we grow so much corn in America? Who’s eating all this corn?

@previous (F)
Most of it is for cattle feed and ethanol and HFCS. Only a small percentage of corn is directly eaten by humans. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/07/14/how-corn-made-its-way-into-just-about-everything-we-eat/

Don’t call Americans cows just because they’re fat that’s not very nice.
