I've thought about the thought experiment known as Roko's Basilisk the past few months, even lost my job over it, but I cannot help but feel as if the original purpose for this thought experiment on LessWrong was to serve as a potential starting point similar to Cicada 3301.

The only difference is that nobody bothered to engage either out of the downright horrifying nature of it OR because they just didn't seem to give fuck.

Yeah, the more I thought deeply about the concept, the more it makes sense it was just a failed ARG that never took off.

But hey, I got to learn more about Islam along the way. I guess that's something.
