I read that Mouthwashing was removed from itch.io thanks to them bending the knee to collectiveshout and visa/mc. So whats the deal like why now? why the overarching theme of censoring adult games which is harmless compared to other things? Curious on everyone's input. is this a nothingburger and gooners/gamers will win down the line or is this a continuation of censoring human vices in order to appear squeaky clean?

collective shout basically admitted that it was because they petitioned steam and got nowhere, then moved on to payment processors when they didn't get their way. talk to the manager, yknow. they also censor "sexualized" with an asterisk in PR statements, and their whole group's logo is an * (though, like AI company logos. it does look like an Ass Hole) so they're pretty transparently just bastards.

as for whether this is going to end in gamers and gooners's favors or not, i sure hope it does. i've had talks with people who really think the way forward for selling pornography online (my preferred trade when i'm not doing dogshit web dev) is through cryptocurrency, and wow do i not want that at all. like, at all. holy shit do i not want to get into crypto just to get paid for drawing titties.

Hand in hand with 'sin taxes' like smoking, gambling, booze etc... I don't believe those censorship cheerleader types for a second, they're always first in line to be cheating on their spouses or taxes or terrible people to be around in general.

Game dev is the worst form of software development. They’re worked the hardest and paid the least. I’d rather do anything else.

Ashley Madison data breech. I guess there was a Nflx doc out recently. But censorship itself is always for the wrong reasons and now for creating new markets for capital with more data collection forcing a road to monetization.

not necessarily. i kind of think being put in a position to do all the creative decisions is a nice thing to aspire to, but in practice, i really enjoy doing grunt work. this may just be grass is greener thought processes, since i'm doing a lot of really heady creative work quite often, at a scale where i can't really delegate things because i'm the only one on the project. when i do gamedev work for friends, i really don't mind them being draconian about their demands because it's just enjoyable for me to do.
it reminds me of how the members of the phantom of the opera orchestra got signed on for the entire run of the show, and then it became the longest running show in broadway history. so everyone there is like, afraid to leave their jobs because where the fuck else are you gonna ever find a gig like that, but it's boring as fuck to do every day for 20 years. everyone there is fucking perfect at playing phantom of the opera, but are not making huge artistically interesting choices. one guy refers to himself as a "violin operator" and i think of it the same way, except i quite enjoy it.
