You have claimed to be in a frat house, and your economic views and your views of the poor indicate that you yourself are rich. As a fraternity member, you are probably around 18-21 years of age. Do you honestly expect us to believe that you got rich in life through honest, hard work, and overcoming adversity?

I work hard and buy nice shit once in a while, parents are self made hundred thousandiollaires and I earned the scholarship I have.
Even if I was broke I would never condone stupid views like giving away money just because or taking care of people that made stupid life decisions.

...no. That's not how it works. There are many causes of poverty. Some (like temporary unemployment) are fixable, others (like going into debt from treating a serious medical condition while not on health insurance, having little to no economic opportunity nearby [rural poverty], poor family upbringing, etc.) are much more complex, and require outside assistance to be solved within a reasonable time period.

Health insurance runs from 50 dollars a month (which would be like 1.75 dollars a day.)
Unemployed, disabled and old people get government Medicaid or Medicare for free.
Then again, this is the kind of situations where I believe that everybody should be covered by a completely government provided health insurance for everybody, a healthy workforce is a productive workforce. Which is different than giving money away to lazy fucks because it would prove more efficient and worthwhile in the long run.

$50 a month is a lot of money for people who have zero income and zero savings. That could be the difference between having food and not having food. But medical conditions are only one of the myriad ways that you can fall into debt, and debt is only one of the myriad causes of poverty. Being poor is not always a result of laziness, so to say "Poor people should just work more" is not the solution. Sometimes there's more to it than that, and if I've convinced you of that, then I'm done.

I pay $32/month for health, prescription, and dental. The problem is a) most people who can't get insurance have pre-existing conditions that no private company wants to cover and b) government/insurance companies paying for everything drives up the costs of medical care, because doctors and hospitals know that they can charge government/insurance companies, pretty much whatever they want. Like $80 for a $10 towel, or $36 for $2 worth of aspirin. Insurance companies aren't the greedy ones driving up health costs.

No, like for bread, eggs and milk. I earned a scholarship too, but it only covers half of my $40,000+ tuition and it doesn't cover my meal plan or textbooks or the cost of living in a dorm. A full scholarship from my school would not cover those things either. If my parents weren't paying for my education, I would be taking out loans so I could have food and pay for living expenses. Loans are necessary; stop pretending they're not.

If a student works, they have less time to devote to academics, and they need to keep their grades up in order to maintain a scholarship, so giving people a scholarship and then making it incredibly difficult for them to keep it is self-defeating. If you give a loan, that's not a problem.
