Souvenir/tourist magnets used to be so ubiquitous
I scoured two international airports and couldn't find a single one
Wtf happened to fridge magnets?

well you know, I bet they still sell the letters of the alphabet with magnets for the kids to put on there

Keychains and T-shirts won, postcards and magnets got left in the 1980's.

I see them all over the place. But there aren't many in airports, you're right. Head to the tourist part of town and there will be a souvenir shop that sells them. Or if there's a market then they'll sell them. I got 3 for €5 a few days ago.

Yeah I'm gonna head to the old port and get some. Sucks though cause I was in Toronto looking for magnets and couldn't find any.

My first girlfriend used to send me postcards right up until we broke up in 2015

You do realize that every magnet is a fridge magnet if you’re brave enough, right?

yeah, i think they are. it's kind of a shame, i know a lot of artists who make stickers as if they were fridge magnets, a lot of those print shops just don't make fridge magnets anymore. and i've been new-fridge shopping, and a lot of them are just not that good for magnets anyway, a lot of them are brushed metal, some of them have those glass panels you can use to look inwards without opening the door. not especially magnet-friendly.

Reminds me, we had a cassette factory in my city. A lot of my friends worked there. So you'd have a lot of local bands with $5 tapes at their shows. They closed down recently. :(

rip :(

a friend of mine tried starting a bootlegging scene because she liked a band made up for an anime and missed the print run of their cassettes. i think she made it pretty far with it too, at least relative to scale of operations.

That's pretty cool!

I remember my then-roommate spitting in the ink when Jack White made an order lol
