If you carefully read the Apostles Creed, you will notice that "he descended into Hell" and during the 3 days that he was dead, he was ministering to the ones who were in Hell.

Pick which flavor of protestantism and you'll get different answers. My flavor leaned into 'you're thinking in human terms Anon A, God transcends time.'
It sounds a little reddit-atheist, but once someone broke down the infinite punishment for finite crime, and saving us from himself, the entire process only works if you get swept up in the frenzy, keep singing those hymns, and absorb the cadence of the whole show rather than the actual content itself.

I don't even play on that court. If this is all bunk then there is no hell/devil/torment. But if I did humor them, yes, eternal separation from the smite monster isn't punishment.

I’ve always wondered about the idea of Heaven. Isn’t it just a form of Hell if a bunch of your loved ones don’t make it to Heaven? You spend eternity anxious and tortured because your spouse or kid is spending the same time boiling in a pit of mucous.
1. Humans invented the idea of heaven and hell in order to coerce people to do or not do certain things
2. The creator of this universe created a spirit for each human born, and if the human didn't believe in the creator they'd send the spirit to the bad afterlife rather than the good afterlife. The afterlife versions last forever.
One of my flock asked me the other day, "Father, what happens if someone boots you in the nuts in Heaven? Does it hurt? And if yes, how can it be Heaven?"
I told him that no, taking a boot to the nuts in Heaven would not hurt because there is no pain in paradise.
I believe heaven is more metaphysical than how it's usually portrayed in pop culture. In Buddhism they have the notion of a giant well of life force from which all souls emanate and to which all souls return, to be subsumed into the greater source. A very inspirational description of the afterlife.

Religion is a great racket. Sure, there’s aid and comfort. Early on, the first shamans realized they had a better gig than warriors or farmers, and that they could dazzle chieftains and kings. It’s a casino that can’t lose: If you die from disease, it’s His plan or your faith was wanting. If you live, it’s His plan and your faith was strong. Now where can I give 10% of my income to endorse a particular fairy tale?
