It appears on the Sun side of the sky with its red arc at a radius of about 45° from the Sun. The original pictures have been subjected to various forms of image processing to reveal the tertiary rainbow as well as the quaternary rainbow, which are separated by only a few degrees with their colors reversed and their red arcs adjacent to each other.

You can definitely see the third one to the right if you look in the clouds. The fourth (on the left) is less visible, but it is there. Here is an article with more descriptive analysis.

Yup! I see it now (the third one). I've seen a few double rainbows in my time, makes me wonder if I wasn't looking close enough and seen one of these quads before. I even drove through the bottom of a rainbow once, I know they aren't supposed to have bottoms usually, but this one did, the bottom was on a 4 lane highway. There was no fucking gold.
