I cooked some chicken gizzards and hearts for my dog in my cast iron pans. I used both of my cast iron pans because there were a LOT of gizzards and hearts. My cast iron pans are now a bit funky. I washed them and am re-seasoning them with a thin layer of avocado oil at low heat on the stove and it still smells funky. Just less so.
Don't be harsh on yourself. Cast iron pans are a generational item and it's stressful to think you've ruined them by cooking chicken lungs or whatever gizzards are.

I said screw it and got a brillo pad last time I messed up a cast iron skillet. If it's going to the trash anyway, I figured why not try a hail mary. Got it all clean, dried, then promptly splashed some grease and made a grilled cheese I think (was able to save it and start the seasoning over).
