This is terrible, but honestly it sounds like it was just a tragic accident. I don't see why he is being put in prison. Taking his license would seem reasonable, but if he wasn't doing anything reckless (under the unfluence of something, or texting or not paying attention), I don't see why its necessary for him to spend 2 years in prison.

You are letting your emotions rule your thinking. He wasn't intending to kill the child or doing anything that a reasonable person would conclude could result in harm. He hit the wrong pedal. The results are tragic, but the actions don't warrant being charged with murder.

i just meant he shouldnt have been charged with anything.
actually, maybe he should have, but he shouldn't have gotten any time. he did plead guilty, which i think is stupid but i dont know how the UK court systems work. I don't understand the reasoning behind the sentence. you can't deter people from making mistakes. not getting into an accident is the biggest deterrent there is. as far as punishment, the man is going to suffer the rest of his life. he needs counseling. i wouldnt be surprised if he killed himself. the article doesn't indicate that he did anything more than mistake where his foot was placed. it was a mental error. this happens to us all the time. ever grab the wrong cup and you overcompensate for weight? he would have done the same thing with his foot on the gas, thinking it was the break. its tragic, but i dont see what actions he could have taken to prevent it. it isnt like you ever visually inspect where your foot is.
he could have beaten it in the US, i think. i believe there has to be some instance of reckless behavior on the driver's part. its hard cause it is a kid. its a boy though, and no one likes stinky, smelly, shotas except lazer-happy drug addicts.

You can say whatever you want, but a court found him guilty of death by dangerous driving and he admitted it, so there must be some truth in the allegation. He caused it through his own negligence. If this guy was let free after running a little kid over and killing him, what sort of message would that be sending out? Personally I would just run over my enemies and then say "my foot slipped".

Since when does an accident deserve jailtime? He should get two years of probation in my opinion and be barred from driving a vehicle during that time.
