And so I let my ethics become compromised even though at the end of the day I know that I am directly causing the harm of animals but it's too bad I can't buy a vegan hot pocket

Short of reading poetry to a cow before slitting its throat, not a ton that can be done as an omnivore. I used to eat seafood because I thought they were 'dumber' on the foodchain - turns out squid and octopus are seriously smart, and I regret chowing down on all those guys now.

beans(that are not soy) are probably the best daily driver protein source for a vegan(even though its a very shit protein). Theres lots of alternatives that are more nutritionally efficient, but they come with tradeoffs for anyone wanting to eat enough to completely replace meat with them, and should probably only be usee sparingly if you wish to follow the intent of veganism.
Personally though, I think that the philosophy underlying veganism can be better off eating meat that you farmed and slaughtered yourself.

Beans are also high in lectins and oxalates (anti-nutrients, oxalates ate especially bad as they hinder the absorption of calcium and can form kidney stones). Almonds are high in calcium but also oxalates, making them pointless. For protein go for hemp, protein or pea protein. Though they're still not as good as meat.

You will never get enough protein eating beans and rice. It's theoretically possible, but no one eats that much and you'd be shitting all day if you ate that much.
