Topic: Merrin here. Am I about to be scammed on ebay?
Father Dave !RsSxeehGwc started this discussion 1 week ago#126,552
Won an item 2 days ago from a guy with perfect feedback from 500-odd transactions, but I just got a message from him asking me to send him my address "so that I can post it ASAP". The fuck? As the seller my address should be automatically provided to him, no?
If you care for my peace of mind, as I know you do, let me know what you think is going on here. Nigh-on 17 pounds sterling is at stake here. Is your pal Merrin about to be taken for a ride by a shameless con-artist?

A lot of these eBay people are shitheads. Many of these bastards will send a message after you think the transaction is paid and done and then cancel on you because you didn't bother to look at eBay messages for a week (because most eBay messages are worthless bullshit that waste's time) saying they need your email address to mail it because their shipper wants that or some bullshit. The worst is the jerk who says they need five more clams because the cost to send was higher than they had set earlier.

Maybe he's just not good at computers or doesn't know how to see it, or maybe he's been stung before by someone not updating their address and getting a refund so he gets it in writing before posting, to protect himself.

When I was a seller on eBay, there were a few times I had to ask a buyer about their address because they didn't type the info in correctly, or there was an eBay glitch.
If he asks you to send additional money, then I'd be concerned. If you don't get your item by said date, file a complaint with eBay. If he fails to send item, or can't provide proof you received item, eBay will reimburse you the money.

Is your address in an unusual or unexpected format, perhaps? Maybe he's confused by a foreign address. If it contains Cyrillic script, maybe it doesn't render correctly on his device?

Could be trying to run the clock down. I believe the window is small for disputes. Seems unlikely though for a small amount and an established account.

Oh now I recall a fucker in Italy who tells me hey, your package came back to me because of a wrong address and I need your correct address. You had my correct address the first time fuckhead, eBay gave it to you. Here's my same fucking address.

Ive sold a lot of stuff on eBay. When you sell even to a place outside the US eBay will give you a premade label you just print out with whatever shipping info the buyer has on file. If it’s outside the country it goes to Pitney Bowels?? I forget the spelling clearing house/auction house in Kentucky and they handle all the international stuff for you
