It would seem that the study of how misinformation propagates and how to have better information available is a goal contrary to the current US government. Or maybe they fear that THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE

We didn't need any NSF grants to determine the safe distance for COVID
Q: Do you recall when discussions regarding, kind of, the at-least-a-6-foot threshold began?
A: The six-foot in the school?
Q: Six-foot overall. I mean, 6-foot was applied at businesses —
A: Yeah.
Q: It was applied in schools, it was applied here. At least how the messaging was applied was that 6-foot distancing was the distance that needed to be —
A: You know, I don’t recall. It sort of just appeared. I don’t recall, like, a discussion of whether it should be five or six or whatever. It was just that six-foot is –
Q: Did you see any studies that supported six feet?
A: I was not aware of studies that — in fact, that would be a very difficult study to do.

Even entertaining the idea that the lab in Wuhan experimenting with gain-of-function research into coronaviruses could have possibly been the origin was labeled as "misinformation" and would get your account banned on most social media sites.
Leftism has always relied on censorship, and this is just a rebrand of censorship. Leftism relies upon censorship because the ideas cannot hold up in an open conversation.

It's mostly frustrating because they use it on us too, just like the snooping stuff. No need to snoop, I'll say it right here, we've been C average for a while.

@previous (Oatmeal Fucker !BYUc1TwJMU) > I do recall people being angry at Donald Trump for calling it China Flu and saying it was their fault
Yeah. It was true though. It came from China. Chinese people are responsible for the lab leak.

@1,363,997 (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC) > I dont think it was wise to call it the China flu, regardless
Why? Nobody had any issues when people called Spanish flu Spanish flu. Why is it suddenly a problem to call something what it is when it's China?

@1,364,001 (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC) > A lot of things that were acceptable that long ago are not acceptable now
Okay, but why? Explain it to me like I'm a child. Why is "China flu" racist/unwise but "Spanish flu" isn't?
Also I think you know very well that if covid had come from Spain, nobody would have any issues with calling it "Spanish flu II" or something.

Well, in my area. Right wing people have removed a bunch of books from libraries and given schools an approved list of books allowed in the school. But the list is very small
Also, they no longer let children in schools go by nicknames without written approval from their parents
The current administration has been removing references to women and minorities from government websites
Also, many states and the current administration are making it harder for adults to access certain medical procedures

Additionally, the Spanish flu didn't come from Spain. It got its name because the US did and still does associate foreigners with being dirty and germy

@1,364,007 (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC) > Additionally, the Spanish flu didn't come from Spain. It got its name because the US did and still does associate foreigners with being dirty and germy
That is a good point. I wasn't arguing by the way, I was asking a question, which you have answered quite satisfactorily I think.
@1,364,008 (Kook !!rcSrAtaAC) > Another question, can anyone picture any other president from the last 40 years calling Covid the China flu?
Quite easily - both the Bushes... and Reagan... and maybe even Bill Clinton. I was going to include Nixon but he falls outside of the 40 year range.

And regarding leftist censoring social media
The current administration along with Elon Musk has been pushing certain social media sites to ban people who criticize Trump and Musk and their policies

I disagree COMPLETELY with your last assertion
We also have a long history as a country of treating the Chinese terribly even though their labor was pivotal in modernizing the US
The Chinese never achieved the status of "White" in a way that the Spanish have
Also, during Covid, after the China flu comments, random violent attacks against Asians strongly increased. Which is why we've learned not to use such terms

What? You said "from the last 40 years". I'm just saying I can't include Nixon because he falls outside of the parameters of your question.
The First World War was happening at the time and the governments in many countries felt that it would harm morale to spread the news of the plague killing millions.
Only neutral Spain reported it, giving rise to the perception that Spain was the epicentre of the outbreak. Actually it was most likely the Americans.

Education is about teaching the truth, not indulging any random piece of literature written. If that idea worked, there would be no point in putting everyone through school they could simply wander through life learning as they go.
> Also, they no longer let children in schools go by nicknames without written approval from their parents
People should be called by their actual names.
> The current administration has been removing references to women and minorities from government websites
DEI has failed and the DEI websites are being removed. There will still be minorities and women in the records, but it won't be cherry picked to recruit based on illegal civil-rights-violating criteria.
> Also, many states and the current administration are making it harder for adults to access certain medical procedures
