I owned a grandfather clock for like 2 weeks before the other half the family rolled up in a truck and took off with it. Looking up the prices I see what happened - grandma gave me a $4,000 antique and the sharks found out. Yeah I'm retarded but it doesn't mean I wouldn't have enjoyed a noisy old clock in my studio apartment. Nobody has it now so I assume they sold it to an antique shop.

I'm not going to lie. I can believe the "Great Clockmaker" analogy for the creation of the universe. I sort of already subscribed to that idea anyway.

it seems that people entertain the idea that reality is based on whatever the recent human innovation is -- witness the peculiar idea that we "live in a simulation"

You're right that digital in the context of a clock refers to the use of digits rather than hour & minute hands to show time, but by far the more common usage, especially these days and also especially when comparing with analogue devices is digital = discrete digits (0 and 1) which make up a non-continuous signal, and analogue = continuous / a variable quantity which makes up a smooth signal.

Ah yes, Catherine may be referring to mechanical watches which do not use electrical energy as a power source. These mechanical watches do however use power which is typically stored in a spring which must be wound either manually or by harvesting kinetic energy from the motion of the wearer's wrist.

I'll admit it, I love the simulation theory and dead internet theory stuff. Then it also became painfully obvious the later content surrounding this stuff was just aped or AI barf for clicks.
