It is a FPS, yes. Different character classes. It's a little bit older, but it's fun for a download if you can torrent a copy for single player.

I need that steam account because it has TF2 and some other stuff i play sometimes.
I never had to buy the orange box, instead i just have to think about a dead guy every time i play it.

In theory you could play the whole thing using ranged weapons, but melee combat is the only way to regain health so yeah a lot of the time it's melee combat.
