I frankly am surprised they waited this long. The normal route (for people my age anyway) is:
Date while living separately for 6 months - 2 years
Move in together to see if you can stand living with them every day for 1-3 years
If the move in experiment went well, propose. If not, break up and go back on the market.

Also @OP you should just get a duplex and rent each half with a different woman. You can alternate the nights you are at home with each woman for "work" reasons and easily sneak between them.

Not really. If you don't know if you want to marry someone after 3 years of dating, the answers is almost certainly that you do not want to, and it's better to move on and find someone you actually do want to!

yeah I get puzzled by people who effectively live the married life in every way except for the documents and ceremony, then inform people of their upcoming marriage, and we are like, we couldn't tell that you weren't even married all this time, now you want me to show up to some bullshit and give you shit

I mean my range has 5 years before announcing engagement (which happens usually 12-18 months before a wedding) as the high end so 6.5 years from dating to marriage seems a bit high to me? Idk things might be different in Europe. How long do people there date before marriage?

It is for women! And they make up 2/3rds of the people in your relationship so...
