Topic: What is the best way for my wife and I to celebrate Black Excellence?

My wife and I recently moved from a small, white town in Ohio to Chicago! We moved for work, and we love it. We are in our late 20s with no children, and we are both working in HR at two different companies.

When we got here, things were odd at first, but soon my wife started to make some friends around town! Kevin, Nicolette, Jamal, and Lamont are just a few of them. They’ve all really accepted us into their circle, and we appreciate them a lot.

However, recently Jamal brought something up when he was hanging out with us at our apartment watching the newest episode of Severance. He said that he doesn’t feel that we are both doing enough to celebrate Black Excellence, and that we should probably do more because people are starting to talk about us, and everyone thinks we’re racist because we don’t have any references to racial justice on our Instagram pages.

I’ve been to dozens of BLM rallies so I’m not sure what he’s trying to say. My wife agreed with him that we need to do more, but neither of us are sure what we CAN do.

Can anyone give me some ideas?
