Kook !!rcSrAtaAC started this discussion 2 months ago #124,785

Where are some good places to see? I don't care about royalty or Big Ben, but I love museums

I'd also like to try some local food

How long would would your visit be?

And any type of museum in particular - art, history/culture, science/tech?

If you're in London, the British Museum and Natural History Museum are must-visits IMO. If you're into art, the V&A and Tate Modern are great.

I prefer history and natural history, but I love museums of all kinds

I've seen one where they mimic what it was like to be in a storm cellar during the bombings in WWII

The visit would be as long as I want

Maybe a week or two

I'd also like to take a rail tour

Has anyone done that there?

If you do go you must visit Westminster Abbey. Easily my favorite historical location I visited. Tower of London was kinda underwhelming but probably worth doing anyway.

Damn mate. That's a bit rude.

@OP

For museums it has to be London but if you want to visit the real England don't go to London. England has some of the most beautiful country side in the world but don't travel during school holidays.

You should go to Clacton on the Sea to experience the real England and you may bump into Nigel Farage. Actually, I take that back you're more likely to bump into Nigel Farage in America.

If you go to Yorkshire then visit Whitby, York and you may also enjoy the Royal Armouries museum in Leeds.

Jeez, we're not constantly celebrating the monarchy. You won't have the Royalty forced down your throat anywhere unless you actively seek that stuff out. Relax.
