Most [public libraries have an app for that, and they're free.

You need to leak your real name and address to get a valid #. No thanks.

People living on the grid have told me you need to put books on hold for those apps, and it removes it from your device at a set date if you can't renew. That's not worth it.

Copyright runs out eventually - old crusty books are free.

I personally set my budget for some entertainment - a book, an album, a movie - whatever. It's tight but I really enjoy what little I buy.
