Trump should partner with Tesla and offer a special MAGA edition with limited edition decals, etc, for $10,000 extra. Maybe a $100,000 upgrade to have it autographed by Trump and/or Elon?

Tesla's customer base is/was people who are concerned about climate change and are willing to pay a premium to do something about it, aka Democrats. It has very limited appeal to Republicans which is why Elon going full retard in support of Trump makes no business sense. BYD will eat Tesla's lunch soon enough so I guess he figures he's made most of the money he's gonna make from it? Idk how else to explain it charitably.

I have seen an explosion of Teslas here in Texas post-election. Elon has gotten right wingers interested in electric cars.
The sales, here at least, really have gone up. Whether that’s enough to counteract the anti-Trump slump, I don’t know but his strategy is working in some areas at least.

We'll see but it just seems like bad business to take a reliable customer base and destroy your reputation with them in the hopes that you can conjure up a new batch of customers. Arguably he is not currently acting in his company's best interests. @previous (dw !p9hU6ckyqw)
People will be driving cars for a long time. They will drive ICE cars or electric cars. One of those emits less CO2 than the other. The math is pretty straightforward.

Cybercab will roll out across the nation next year. Let's see how "principled" the elon haters can be when offered the least expensive ride hailing service ever.

lol Tesla is positioned to have the cleanest lithium refinery in the world. It's new 1200+ acre lithium refining site uses an acid-free process free of hazardous reagents and the byproduct is just a mix of limestone and sand. Tesla's newest motors have fewer rare earths than other modern EV motors, and their next-gen motor will use zero rare earth and with higher-efficiency. If the neolib crowd truly does care about the whole process, Tesla is the EV company closest to actual sustainability.

"Production vehicle" is an industry term meaning anyone can rock up and buy one. There are cybercabs rolling out of the factory today, they're for testing and training purposes and the trials in Austin and State-wide in California.
To answer your many question marks, Cybercab will be a product that anyone can buy, for their own purposes or to add to ride hailing fleet. "Production", in this case, means high volume manufacturing, sold to the public, and legal for operation on any public road

There are prototypes being made but I find it baffling you think there will be hundreds of cybercabs operating in the next 2 months when Elon says production won't start until next year. Happy to check back June 1 and see how many are on the road!

Please do, I'll mark it in my calendar.
I find it strange that you think hundreds of cybercabs is even a challenge for Tesla at this point. You don't need to manufacture a "production vehicle" to operate under an autonomous trial permit. There's 'prototype' and 'series production' and then there 'production'.
Waymo will be put to utter shame in just a few months time. And by the end of next year cybercabs will be picking up riders in every one of our great U.S. states.

Oh goodness, you are? I'm not, and many others are not. Even in the case of a community burning only coal to supply their power grid, emissions can be captured centrally instead of being spewed out into my vegetable garden. Thanks.

You forgot to add a counterpoint to the fact that centralized burning of coal makes the task of capturing emissions much easier and efficient. Are you conceding that this is much better than hundreds of thousands of tiny filters in each car? Combustion engine vehicles are practically the Keurig of transportation. Pollution in your garden AND hazardous waste in your landfills. Even a modern coal power plant is a vast improvement over ICE vehicle emissions and waste. Start there and then worry about improving the energy mix of your grid

Something must be in the water, I've noticed a lot of people doing the hair piece, texture powders, dying beards and such lately. I guess I don't see the point of trying to look 56 when you're 63 or whatever... does it really open a bunch of doors for them? Not so much dunking on them, just saying they're wasting money IMO.

Update: As of April 2025, it was revealed that Tesla has been operating RoboTaxi as a pilot program ride hailing app for its employees in the San Francisco Bay Area since Q1 2024 and as of this month, the program has expanded to include Austin, Texas. The RoboTaxi app is still scheduled to begin public service in June 2025. Cybercab or not, Tesla RoboTaxi is upon us.

Before, obviously. Hyperloop is a satire of California's failure to build high-speed rail for over 42 years. It's a great joke; by the time California approves high-speed rail, we have have sci-fi infrastructure anyway

Hyperloop will be achieved exactly one day before California's high-speed railway opens. California's been trying since 1982, so they have a HUGE lead on Tesla.

Which date would you prefer to discuss? California's high-speed rail has been in active development for 30 years, with planning and study going back for more than 42 years. No part of California's high-speed rail network is expected to be operational before 2030, and the full "phase 1" of California's high-speed rail project will likely never be finished, but current projections from the state put phase 1 completion at 2035.

If California had defined high-speed rail as anything near as capable as Japan's bullet trains, I would be inclined to agree. But their version of high-speed rail is not so great as Japan's

LOL, because of an EV charging standard that failed in the Western markets. Pretty handy adapter if you find yourself in Nissan territory
Anonymous G replied with this 14 hours ago, 1 minute later, 1 month after the original post[^][v]#1,363,314

Either one. Like I said, the standard was used in the west as well, but it failed. If you have somehow managed to find yourself in Tennessee with a low SoC on your Tesla battery and with no other options but to use some EVSE that is only equipped with CHAdeMO plugs, you'll find this adapter useful. But it will be vastly more useful if you find yourself living in Japan with a NACS equipped Tesla.

It's also funny how Nissan claims on its PR releases how they were first and yet Tesla never rebukes them. Not even on Twitter or whatever it's called now.
Methinks they're a bit afraid of offending a certain nation.

What's totally bizarre is how you pepper your arguments with industry lingo to look smart but make an amateur mistake by claiming there's an EVSE that uses CHAdeMO, which is totally not the case.

No they don't. CHAdeMO is used on DC fast chargers. The abbreviation "EVSE" means "electric vehicle supply equipment", which just sends mains electricity to the onboard rectifier. Mains electricity hasn't been DC since Thomas Edison was alive.
Anonymous G replied with this 13 hours ago, 1 minute later, 1 month after the original post[^][v]#1,363,341

Wrong. EVSE refers to all of the equipment and software external to the vehicle that is used for either level 2 charging OR DC fast charging. You don't know shit, see you in June.

In a way I wood love to agree with you but You and I both live about equal distance to:
Without the Nuke Joint and it looks like this one is KaPuT for good now. The alternate for making Electricity is Oil burning with of course the Natural Gas power plant exception. So until they figure out how to get the power to the Electric Car without messing up Ozone Zone - I am holding back as Electric as answer. Have a couple of friends who work at Tesla Motors, doing control design and DC-AC conversion stuff.
Wood love to have one of those in my Garage instead of the BMW. Not until they find a way to power them up without the mess up.
Quick skim only - Doubt I even met him given those on list of QUICK Skim were not in my circle EXCEPT one Gal who every Sunday for a couple years I was dinner guest and only because a very important sweet blue eyed cousin's dad MY Uncle worked for the Husband of the Gal I no that is mentioned in that wiki and she has passed away with much great publicity along with daughter
I spent a few years on a project called Discovision as VP at Universal Studios/MCA - And met a few actors etc and damn am glad I got the hell away from anything movie or recording wise related - The CEO OF MCA/Universal who's daughter and I share a first name with - He was fukin mean and nasty but one hell of a smart ATTORNEY who told me he buys and owns Meat and he meant Meat as in Actors and Actresses and that fool thought he owned me because I chose to take his money and fill my wallet
But some fond memories of the work accomplished and betting one 3Letter Gov agency thought they were doing me a favor by pushing me to get some of their technology into the marketplace - Product FAILED yet the Patents produced a fortune for without them no CD's No DVD's NO laser read write including simple check out cash registers. And I got a chance to fully understand the Music Biz in total as need to get $$$ to fund the Discovision project

Mid 40's and WE as in a group of workmates bought 4 of them Quickly - Three for each of us to use and one to take apart in total.
Memories of taking the head apart - I should have been the last person for that task cause me and Mechanical contraptions usually do not make a good mix - I take something apart and put back together and always have parts left over yet the device WORKS.
Did ok as kiddlet rebuilding a Carburetor - Three and then a Transmission and that was fun cause the parts are wayyyyyy too large to leave anything out - But the Head of that Beta player was a joy of engineering - I also took a teletype machine fully apart but needed much help getting it back together but so many techs near by trained by Military made that as simple as inviting them over for moms dinners.
Beta machine was a work of ART - VHS machines just JUNK - Worked/Works but JUNK - Poor image as result compared to Beta - Fact is 100% of Pro broadcasters used ONLY Beta machines - VHS just Crap
AND Syntax was the very 1st person to witness LaserDisk recording with hands on HELP - Damn just Damn that was one hell of a fun R&D project - I take NO personal credit for invention and design but in total Credit for making it happen and coming up with the money to make that happen - Discovision was a PRODUCT Failure YET in total the Patents are still 2Day paying off Mega Millions of Royalties - Plus because Solid State has now replaced Need for Laser recording and readout for some Reason BlueRay, is still a hot product AND AND the Solid State SSD type devices require USE of the Discovision Patents to make the IC's
Just fucking amazing and as much as it bugs the shit out of me - Crazy as all fuck CEO/Attorney Lew Wasserman founder of Universal Studios and twice Loser B4 US Supreme Court - ENDS UP Being so MAD AS ALL FUCK AT SONY BETA - He says HEY WE Stamp out Vinyl records at MCA/Decca by the zillions so why NOT just put Movies on Vinyl - Total wack job idea - Mass of Engineers he hired as consultants laffed in his face - Me did not No enough to Laff and told the guy Hey I have no clue what can be done for video on a record format size wize, but can tell you Engineers wood have NO CLUE - So U B interviewing the Rong people
I did have background on state of art for Spy in Sky memory which is shocking just Shocking in the way Hughes Malibu invented the How2's. I was just a very young engineer who said Really U got2 be kidding with how you plan to store information in SPACE - Yet they did for years and years - Boggles my mind still 2Day
{Info was put on something called a Memoscope which was Cathode Ray Tube "CRT's" of 5 Inches in size with Three each needed IN SPACE in a Satellite and a Camera with Film running at rather fast speed to record the CRT Memoscope Image - Then the Film wood get all full of Info and have to be dumped from SPACE down down to a Net that was held between aircraft so the Film wood fall into the Net for recovery) Totally crazy yet it worked most of the time FOR YEARS and Years as well as in U2 Spy plane and other many other Recon Aircraft like F104's and F105's and converted Tankers for Spy from Sky
Damn Memory has cum a long way - Being OLDER does mean having the time to experience a wide wide WIDE range of Stuff
So I new a mountain climbing buddy who was Senior Scientist for Hughes in total - I said hey given the dimensions of a Vinyl Record just how much information could be put in such space Science/Physics wise and low and behold with 3D Calculus (Vectors) He derived the limits - Turns out one can put every movie ever made on just one disk - So just a two hour movie should be Simple LoL
Y the word salad? For a team who has hands on models of future of 6G and 7G for 2024 or so - Because one part of one model made in multiples so as to be deployed to other cities for play - Has a major part pulled out of a brand new Microwave Oven - It's HUGE in size and takes two hands to fully hold that one part - The KEY Part which of course has to be one day Miniaturized - Then Real Ray guns will be possible - For now that is some other engineers team problem.
Wood take a Rack of Gear to do what the one part of Oven does currently if Solid State were to be used - Part current use tends to explode so boxes of new ovens are on standby - Manufacture will NOT sell that part by self currently - Making them by hand is possible but when one can just by the ovens why bother
OK soon must depart to meet with team at a Verizon site which by Co~Wink~e~Dink is just 2 minutes from my 24 Hour fitness Gym - I just love being able to change billing hours on my way to that Gym
