We have electric kettles in America, they're just slower because of how our power grid was designed, and so they never became ubiquitous like in UKBritain. We also didn't get brownouts every time Doctor Who or Jimmy Saville goes on TV, because we have hundreds of thousands of Cable television channels and fewer kettles.
Our kettle equivalent, I suppose, would be the Keurig or Nespresso machine. Because we are heathens whom would rather drink Coffee versus Tea. I think it stems from generational trauma over that revolution thing we did over here a while back
