I'm getting a lot of suggested videos from unknown channels' videos that somehow already have hundreds of thousands of hits, with very exaggerated if not outright false titles. It's like, oh, I never heard of this channel, but so many hits! maybe it is credible. not it's not fucking credible

Something stinks for sure. Even wiping temp files and cookies, starting with a fresh search, immediately there's a pile of trash politics in the feed for low interest searches (put something big and corporate you're mostly fine, put something less popular and it stuffs the results with this garbage).

Maybe the videos being recommended are ads somewhere else on YouTube, and that's why they have such high views? Before I got premium I'd occasionally get halfway through an hour long ad because it was just another talk, and had similar cadence to whatever I had been listening to before, and then I hear something off the handle like "and that's why this actively restored your DNA"

Youtube totally fucked up their algorythm. They recommending me shit I would never watch. It has been that way for almost a year now. Channels I have been subscribed to for years I now have to go directly to the channel as I never get notified of a new video upload in my recommendations. Getting tired of all the politics showing up in my feeds too. I never click on or watch them type of videos there. F youtube.

yuutube is a fine service, but you gotta know how to tame her. ublock origin and sponsorblock are an absolute requirement to have a decent time if you absolutely must watch it in browser, userscripts also add value too. ive tried some of the other extensions but i didnt really care about the benefits compared to the fingerprinting or extra resources.
starting to think modded youtube apps are best tho.
