Topic: To save money and end mass incarcerations why dont we just mount a hook on the ceiling of each cell

Meta started this discussion 1 year ago #124,222

and issue each prisoner with 4' of 1/2" rope on intake? In fact, if the more ornery prisoners were helped to commute their sentences in the matter so described by the more decent prisoners, there may be a lot fewer fights and such. 🤔

Sounds messy. Would be cheaper and easier to scale things up - perhaps we could put everyone in one big room at intake and drop poison gas into the room?

Or we could stop incarcerating people (mostly men) for non violent crimes

We could also start the process of rehabilitation so that long term prisoners may have a chance to reintegrate into society

Nah, private companies make too much money off of incarcerated inmates. They took my shoelaces and put me in a med tank overnight when I joked about killing myself because I had been running late to court

this, and maybe a pathway to have things on record carry less weight in job exclusions, one of the things that brings my gears about California is that a lot of folks who fight fires while incarcerated aren't allowed to become firefighters once they are released

Its odd to me how men will bitch about real world issues that disproportionately impact men, but won't vote to change policies to help

Policies to help are costly. Tax payers think short term and are not willing to pay from current pay checks.

We could spend less taxes on things like the military

And I definitely don't think taxes are the main reason why men vote against humanitarian aid for their own kind

I was recently talking to a man online and he said, Why should I help other people if no one will help me?

I replied, the world would be better if men helped each other. And he responded, you actually think things would change if men helped each other?

I do

yip, the trend has been you need a god damned invenstigation on you to get hired anywhere, so the long term trend is a permanent group of people who will never work much, and everyone in general is in a database of law enforcement
