The main problem as I see it is the left totally abandoned any kind of class-based policy 20 years ago in favor of culture war/social justice based policy. Also they stopped being redistributionist in any meaningful way (kinda hard to get hundreds of millions in speaking fees from banks and billionaire financiers when you're trying to take away their money).

I know this one ultra left woman, she once said Stalin did nothing wrong. Unsurprisingly, she wants Russia to win. She's also a hardcore feminist who unsurprisingly really hates Trump.
Which makes the whole thing so ridiculous, she probably likes what trump is doing.
