Topic: I wish I wasn't too retarded to play Pokémon.

The whole concept feels like rock, paper, scissors on steroids. I can't remember which type beats what type because there are so many different types on Pokémon out there.
This was my sole reason why I never played any Pokémon games or any other monster capture games for that matter.
I invested hours into Palword, but that was mostly because it's a survival game and I play survival games.
Can someone help me understand how this type shit works in Pokémon?

Literal 9 year old children figure this out and the new games specifically tell you when moves are super effective lol. You need to be able to multiple or divide by 2 twice at most, and the interactions are generally obvious: fire is effective against grass and bugs, not effective vs water or rock, etc.

Move damage is affected by type effectiveness so a fire type move deals 2x damage against ice pokemon and 2x damage against bug pokemon. If you use a fire type move against an ice type or a bug type it will deal 2x damage. If you use it against a dual ice/bug type it will deal 4x damage. Likewise fire type moves deal half damage to water pokemon and half damage to rock pokemon so a fire type move would deal 1/2 damage against a rock type or a water type and 1/4 damage against a dual rock/water type pokemon. If you use a fire type move on a water/ice type it will deal neutral damage because it deals half damage based on the water type and 2x based on the ice type so they cancel out.

Same with mobile games with the three color types in a circle and yellow/purple types cancelling each other out: I don't care about that mechanic. It does seem like rock paper scissors.

What about breeding for IVs and EV training though? Oh and natures like adamant is plus attack/minus special attack.

bug gets roasted by magnifying glass, gets eated by birds, and gets squashed by rock
bug eats plants(pokemon is not concerned by plants developing defenses against getting eaten), makes psychic cant into telekinesis cuz squeamish, and beats moon because bug is ultraman and moon is evil type in japanese and heros cannot be beaten by badguys(lol)

I've even tried other games in the monster capture genre. Games such as Coromon and Monster Sanctuary, but even these games I find the same problem. I need to dive back into Cassette Beasts though.

lol, thats one hell of an understatement- pokemon has always been babbies first RPG, but the recent versions have been watered down to where even catherine should have no trouble with it.
