Topic: Tetris 99 is the ultimate Tetris experience.

The famous Russian puzzle game, first created in 1988, featuring following blocks consisting of four squares and forcing the player to arrange them in a row. There have been many variations throughout the decades, but most of which are just rethemes and reskins of the original.

However, that changed when Nintendo released Tetris 99 as an incentive to subscribe to their annual plan for Nintendo Switch Online. A part of a group of re-imaginings of classic games, now one of the sole survivors of the hypothetical '99 era.'

This game truly has to be one of the best and perhaps quintessential Tetris experiences. Not only is it perhaps the most adrenaline inducing, stress increasing, and intense ride. It also changes up the game in an exciting new way. Imagine Tetris, but you're not competing against 98 other players online in a battle royal setting. It makes sense especially considering the rise of battle royal games at the time such as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Super Animal Royale, and of course, Fortnite. The way the game achieves this is by giving players the added options to affect these players while playing their usual game of Tetris.

And as an added bonus, they also included the classic "Marathon" mode so you can play regular Tetris with this too. Thus why I said it's the quintessential Tetris experience.

I highly recommend you play this game. Free on Nintendo Switch for subscribers of Nintendo Online's annual plan plus expansion packs.

And yes, the game is fun and intense at the same time!

consoles limit online functions to a paid service which is basically paying for internet twice.

Not strictly true. On the Nintendo Switch there are many online games that you can play without paying for a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. It's up the publishers and developers to decide whether they will offer their own online services for a game.

That's not the same thing as paying an ISP twice.

I think this is, tbh. Hard as fuck and the rotation may take getting used to, but I love this game.
