This fiasco makes me laugh. As soon as someone changes their name suddenly you have to respect it and pretend their own name never even existed. But, as soon as trump wants to change the name of the gulf everyone loses their shit. Respect the gulfs new pronounes!

Correct. Humans deserve respect. The problem is that a US presidents cannot just singlehandedly rename international bodies of water.

We call the English Channel, the English Channel, the French call it La Manche. Surely the US is free to call it whatever it wants and other countries can keep calling it the gulf of mexico
