Was it self-hosted by minichan, or on Rizon? I can see the self-hosted one going down for being inactive, but if it was somewhere like Rizon, it could easily be left there.

After the collapse of Freenode we moved to some other network (I forget which), but by that point IRC was essentially dead and everyone was using Discord or WhatsApp.

It was self-hosted until like 2015, then Freenode. I ran a bouncer (ZNC) and our bot Minnie (a combination of Eggdrop, bmotion, and Sopel).

Ah, I see; that's unfortunate. I know and have experienced IRC continuing to take blows, primarily due to Discord, so I get it. I just see IRC as more in-spirit of this site/boards overall, as opposed to something as robust as Discord.

Yeah, it's a shame. It ran from 2010 to around 2020. In its heyday it was very active, but the final months were basically join/part spam and complete silence, so I decided it wasn't worth keeping the bouncer+bot going.
I've never really liked Discord, so I don't use it much. It never captured the feeling of IRC.
