Topic: The government wants you to wear your seatbelt

You don’t need a seatbelt when you have the power of prayer. Safety is my top priority. If the Lord decides that today is my day to be with Him, I have taken the necessary steps to ensure that the journey is as fast as possible. God bless.

Did you let go of the steering wheel after telling Jesus to take the wheel, while going down the road at 100 mph, and closed your eyes and said a prayer for 20 minutes?

The Bible encourages wisdom and taking prudent action while also trusting in God's protection. Wearing a seatbelt is an example of applying wisdom, which is consistent with biblical principles. Here are some verses that support this perspective:
1. Proverbs 22:3 – "The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty."
This verse highlights the importance of recognizing potential risks and taking steps to avoid harm. Wearing a seatbelt is a practical way to "take refuge" from the dangers of driving.
2. Ecclesiastes 7:12 – "Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: Wisdom preserves those who have it."
Using wisdom to preserve life aligns with wearing a seatbelt. It's not a lack of faith to use common sense and safety measures.
3. Matthew 4:7 – "Jesus answered him, 'It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
This was Jesus' response when Satan tempted Him to throw Himself off the temple and rely on angels to save Him. Similarly, neglecting safety measures like seatbelts could be seen as testing God rather than trusting Him.
4. Proverbs 4:6-7 – "Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding."
Acting wisely, including taking safety precautions, is an act of honoring God's gift of wisdom.
Trusting God and taking precautions are not mutually exclusive. Wearing a seatbelt reflects gratitude for life and stewardship over the body God has entrusted to you (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). It’s a way of balancing faith with the responsibility to care for oneself and others.
