Transparency is lost sometimes during the thumbnail conversion. You can try converting to a GIF, or resizing to 180x180 or below.

Though I don't know why some PNGs work and others don't, to be honest.
If you give me some examples of images where transparency breaks, I'll take a look into it sometime.
