Topic: Dawkins resigns from Freedom From Religion Foundation.

Anonymous A started this discussion 4 months ago #122,519

The FRFF says the idea of two genders is religious, and not scientific.

Scientific American says "Inequity between male and female athletes is a result not of inherent biological differences between the sexes but of biases in how they are treated in sports." SA no longer care about science, because this statement couldn't be farther from the truth.

Maybe he's just tired of working. He's 83.

He's an evolutionary biologist. Sexual dimorphism is an important part of that field of study.

You can read his resignation letter here: https://whyevolutionistrue.com/2024/12/29/a-third-one-leaves-the-fold-richard-dawkins-resigns-from-the-freedom-from-religion-foundation/

He just needed more nap time. At 83 everyone needs more nap time.

Straight to the point. They are making the case for evolution, not building a brand or trademark.

You disagree with the Pope when he says evolution is real?

So the Independent mischaracterized his words when they said "Pope Francis declares evolution and Big Bang theory are real" in the title?

What about when Pope John Paul II, in a 1996 address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, stated: "Consequently, theories of evolution as a scientific explanation of the origins of the human body ... need not be seen as incompatible with the notion of creation; ... the human soul is created directly by God."

Or when

Pope Benedict XVI said there is no intrinsic conflict between evolution and Christianity. In a lecture given fom 2007, he said: "Theories of evolution are not opposed to the notion of creation, because evolution requires the creation of beings that evolve."

Can you find any statements from church leaders recently that say evolution is incompatible?

No, they accurately represented his words. You, on the other hand, did not.

The title says Francis declares evolution real, and I said Francis declared evolution real. How did I misrepresent his words?

Tbh, as a computer science student, I feel superior to people who study the natural sciences. You can code till the cows come home and never question God or politics or gender or whatever culture war sludge the government jammed in your ears. That and instead of making discoveries we can just make stuff up. Instead of doing math we can be like… 2^x+log_8(5x)-2x^2+5x-3… looks like that’s equal to 2^x.
