But yeah, you're not wrong—it hardly "maximises space". IIRC, when the sidebar is collapsed (and the tab list displays only favicons) it's using the same amount of space horizontal tabs would. When the sidebar is expanded, it's using more space than horizontal tabs would. Doesn't really make sense for it to be a "space" thing.
I only tried Zen out for 5 minutes tbh. Not a huge fan.

Now they have an option to have everything on the sidebar. I guess this is a bit better, but a big adjustment if you're used to having everything horizontally.
