I want to learn Russian. At least the basics.
Any tips on where to begin? General advice? Anything I should know?
I don't know anybody who speaks Russian to ask. Googling just brings up a mountain of fucking affiliate spam and retards selling their €5k courses promising to teach me to write better prose than Dostoevsky in only 48 hours with this one weird trick.

If you want to learn a language and not forget it 2 years later, you need to make it as easy as possible. Start off reading until you can read a Russian book relatively easily. Then listen to audio books while reading, then be able to write Russian, probably grammar books, finally be able to speak it. Don't go to the next phase until you are good with the current phase.
I'd suggest going on Anki and downloading 1000 most common Russian words. Learn say 3-7 a day, then download Russian phrases while stil learning new words which are in the phrases.
