Topic: Is it physically possible for a prescription pill to get lodged in your throat?

Causing you to choke to death? I think this is potentially the reason why I've always couldn't swallowing pills regardless of size. Especially the three pills that come with Paxlovid where the tablets are fucking gigantic.
I really need to get over this fucking block, because it's causing harm to my physical (and dental) health.
I wish I was fucking normal and could swallow any sized pill like a normal fucking person.
If I had scientific data that is accompanied by statistics, illustrations, and information about the causes, the chances, and the preparations for how possible it is for something like pills to be lodged in my throat, choking me, then perhaps this would be enough reassurance to let me let go and just swallow the damn pill.

Only a GIANT pill could block your pipe long enough for you to die. Your natural reflex would cough it out. The average prescription pill is MUCH smaller than that and poses no risk.

Is this also true for Paxlovid pills? Because these pills are kind of huge? How big does the pill have to be in order for there to be a greater risk?

In order to literally kill you/coke you/suffocate you, it would have to be about twice as wide as your esophagus, which is beyond almost all pills. Paxlovid will not hurt you. I took it.

I don't know exactly how wide. But keep in mind that medicine manufacturers have a vested interest NOT to choke patients to death. You'll be fine. Just get a big gulp of water and swallow.

I found a dentist office that can perform anesthesia. I was supposed to have my appointment on the third, but I got sick.

What makes me nervous is that this particular office says that my gag reflex might still be present even with the anesthesia.
I'm not sure how, but it makes me nervous now.

Isn't bread the worst option to try to dislodge something? I thought bread expands with liquids.

Have a chaser ready. I did the same thing when a pill got stuck, knocked it loose with some bagel, then washed it all down with coffee. Not fun, I crush my pills now.

You take a bite out of the bread and simply swallow it - Then some liquid to help it down the throat. Bread grabs the pill and solves the problem. Any food would do.
