Yeah but the Syrian Opposition Forces are unfortunately not entirely or even mostly Kurds. It's like 15 different groups all with ideologies that range from mostly normal to extremely evil.

Well the SDF is mainly Kurds. The "SDF" label was a PR move so the US could continue working with the YPG/YPJ. They threw in some Arabs (the Kurds running Arab-dominated Raqqa would look terrible) but it's still dominated by the YPG.
The non-SDF opposition in Idlib and the Turkish-controlled north are a different kettle of fish. HTS (Idlib) is literally al-Qaeda. The moderate groups were eaten alive many years ago.

Yeah that's why when people say that rebels are making progress it's like great. If the rebels win and somehow overthrow Assad and control the country there is absolutely no certainty that will be an improvement over the current situation and could actually be much worse depending on how the post-Assad power struggle plays out.

That is definitely an opinion a person could have.
> > Hamas had to kidnap babies so that the genocide they were enduring, a genocide that increased their population, would end. > > no, that's not what people are talking about when they talk about the topic
Western woke waaactivists don't wax poetic when we talk about hamas. They lob their l'critique at IDF.

The Western media is all of a sudden concerned about civilian deaths in the Middle East. "4 KILLED IN RUSSIAN AIR STRIKES!!" screams the BBC, after ignoring the IDF's indiscriminate murder of 40 thousand Palestinian civilians for the last year.

Dave from Russia has that peculiar attitude common with Russians where if you say something false, but say it confidently enough, you'll trick some people into accepting that it's true.

The BBC News completely ignores the people of Gaza and only makes stories about people killed by Russia, says Dave from Russia, who in his foolishness doesn't realize - or doesn't care - that his own access to the free flow of information is restricted and manipulated by the authorities.

The people of Gaza are invisible to BBC News, who publish nothing about them and instead focus entirely on attacking Russia and Russian interests. This is according to Dave from Russia, who is repeating what he has seen in an opinion article in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Plato wrote that Socrates, in attempting to find a person who was wiser than him so that he might disprove the Oracle which proclaimed there are none, discovered the perfidious "double ignorance" of people; those who are not only ignorant of the truth, but in their ignorance do not even understand that they are ignorant at all, and in their ignorance do not desire to improve themselves - because they are too ignorant to recognize their own ignorance.

Oh, Sigrid Kaag, who is married to Anis al-Qaq (at one time a deputy of Arafat's)? Yeah, she'd be totally unbiased and reliable. She absolutely wouldn't regurgitate Hamas propaganda just for effect.
What a strange coincidence! Unfortunately I no longer have the screenshots, but they can be readily found by browsing to BBC News and checking out the "Gaza/Israel" section on the top bar!

tfw Damascus has fallen
It’s over: Assad has fled Damascus, according to senior officers in the Syrian regime (Reuters). Syrian state television also reports that he is no longer present. Rebel forces are making their way to the communication buildings to announce the establishment of a new interim Syrian government. 54 years of the Assad dynasty and over 60 years of Ba'ath rule have come to an end. The regime has fallen. (Twitter)
I found it after Reuters reported Assad had left Damascus by plane. It was the only flight departing Damascus at that point. In fact it was the only tracked plane in Syrian skies at all.

Yeah it might be a stretch. His wife and son fled to Moscow on a plane with transponder on, though, so it's possible. It showed up at exactly the time Reuters reported he was fleeing by plane. And even if they turned the transponder off later, that wouldn't explain the sudden loss of altitude (or what looks like a stall).
Apparently yes, because now he's in Russia living in a secret house and enjoying a pleasant retirement with the Spoils of Syria accumulated over two decades of dictatorship.

@1,333,149 (F) > Just so I'm clear, al-qaeda are the good guys now?
It's OK now, cos Abu Mohammed Al-Jolani shaved his beard a bit, changed out of his scary camo-gear and into something more Western, and is now only engaged in "moderate Jihad".

He's also promising to make liberal reforms. Which is something the Taliban also promised to do before reneging on it 2 years later. But hey, whatever helps the White House keep on being able to celebrate an armed coup by a terrorist organisation.
