When Sia sings, she pronounces words in a weird way — she sounds like she’s talking with her mouth full.
Other singers sing like that too.
Why did this become a thing?
Can singers cut this bullshit out and just sing in regular, clean English?

Why does Mick Jagger sing like an old blues man? Affectation to fill in a performing persona. Eartha Kitt in that weird European accent. Billy Holiday in that heroin slump accent. ABBA in the bright American accent. Adriane Lenker in that weird crumbled French Canadian accent (she's from North Carolina I think).

I asked around at work and everyone brushed me off. Some of that stuff sounds like the singer is 4 feet tall or slower than I am (and I'm not dunking on people that are, I'm just saying). I guess it's better than autotune-to-11 but not by much.
